EXPERIENCE AFRICA AND NEVER FORGET IT

Weise clothing has been the choice of Riders for Health workers for many years and now there is a unique chance to see how motorcycles are saving lives in Africa.

Experience Africa 14 – 23 November is more than an off-road motorcycle ride. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity to witness the inspiring humanitarian work being done in Zambia by Riders for Health.

Yes this ride is the chance to ride as part of a small group through a beautiful and varied part of Africa, but it’s just as much about getting into the boots of a Zambian health worker. You will be part of a small team of fewer than 30 riders discovering the real Zambia on the motorcycles that provide a vital lifeline to rural communities.

During your adventure, you will ride from Lusaka to Livingstone, visiting the very communities visited by health workers who benefit from your ride and the work of Riders for Health. We believe that meeting the people whose lives have been transformed by reliable transport is the best way to learn about Riders for Health and we want you to experience this.

Zambia is the perfect environment for this African adventure. Travelling by bike enables us to travel into the spectacular heart of Zambia, land of the legendary African walking safari, home to Victoria Falls, the wild Zambezi River, breathtaking lakes and abundant wildlife.

Riders of all experience levels will enjoy Experience Africa. With plenty of support available, even those who have never ridden off-road before will have an amazing time.

Third generation of the Weise Dynastar jacket for 2012

WEISE® clothing has launched the third generation of its flagship Dynastar jacket to coincide with the motorcycle clothing brand's Silver Jubilee this year.

Like previous versions, the Dynastar Evo has an outer shell made from durable 500-denier CORDURA®, which has an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio and resists tears, scuffs and abrasions.

An ISOTEX® waterproof and breathable drop lining ensures that the Dynastar keeps the wearer dry and there are also external waist and chest pockets that are waterproof. A removable 140-gram quilted lining provides class-leading insulation in cold weather. Like all Weise jackets, the Dynastar Evo has CE-armour in the shoulders, elbows and protecting the back too.

New features for 2012 include ventilation on chest, controlled by waterproof YKK® zippers, and a removable winter neck guard. Integrated reflective material across the chest and back, with additional panels on the outside of the forearm, boost visibility in low light conditions.

As you would expect in a flagship product, the designers paid particular attention to detail on the Dynastar Evo, which has two external 'hand warmer' pockets, neoprene trim on the cuffs and a large rear pocket on its long tail.

Retailing for £249.99 including VAT, the Dynastar Evo is available in sizes Small-5XL.

FireBike12 will spearhead road safety efforts

EFFORTS to improve road safety in the Isle of Man have received a major boost thanks to a striking new addition to the IoM Fire and Rescue Service’s fleet of emergency vehicles.

The eye-catching Kawasaki ZX10R 1000cc, fitted out in distinctive Fire Service livery, will become a familiar sight in the months ahead as firefighters travel around the Island to pass on important safety advice to both novice and experienced riders.

And at a time of budgetary pressures across the Isle of Man Government, there are no financial implications for the Department of Home Affairs regarding the acquisition of the new bike or its running costs.

Jason Griffiths Motorcycles of Castletown has provided the high-performance Kawasaki machine. FireBike12 will be ridden by operational staff within the IoM Fire and Rescue Service qualified to Institute of Advance Motorcyclist (IAM) standard, including officers who have competed in the TT Races and Manx Grand Prix. They have chosen a uniform of Weise Hornet Jacket and matching gloves plus waterproof Hydra leather Jeans.

They will use their vast experience, both as motorcycle enthusiasts and as firefighters who have attended serious road traffic collisions, to promote discussion around key road safety issues, risks and consequences.

The IoM Fire and Rescue Service hopes FireBike12 will play a prominent role in reducing bike-related casualties, and also become a new focal point for engaging with new riders before they venture out on to public highways.

MCN review: Weise Tex Midlayer

"I’m really impressed with these thermal trousers and I’m wearing them a lot under leathers, winter riding gear and even jeans when it’s really cold outside" writes Michael Neeves in Motor Cycle News.

"Thanks to the windproof fabric at the front of the trouser and the fleece inside they’re nice and warm, but the best bit for me is the comfort".
