Take on Winter with WEISE Tex

WEISE® Tex is a new range of high performance mid-layers, designed to keep riders warm and comfortable during winter rides.
Keeping cosy on the bike can be tricky; low ambient temperatures combined with the effects of wind chill can make even the shortest journey unpleasant and, in some cases, can distract the rider from the job in hand.
The WEISE® Tex range features a tri-laminate construction with a tough and tightly woven stretch fabric on the outside, a waterproof and breathable membrane in the middle and cosy micro-fleece liner on the inside.
This three-layer system acts as a barrier against wind chill and water ingress, insulates from low temperatures and allows the skin to breath, helping to prevent the build-up of perspiration.
WEISE® Tex is also thin and flexible, allowing freedom of movement on and off the bike, and flat seams are used throughout for a smooth fit.
The WEISE® Tex range includes: Fleece £69.99, Trousers £47.99, Shirt £57.99, Gloves £16.99, Neck Tube £15.99, Balaclava £17.99 and a Turtleneck £16.99; all are fully machine washable and come in a range of unisex sizes. All prices are suggested retail including VAT.

WEISE Parka is ideal anyway, anyhow, anywhere...

Since the mod movement of the 1960s, the parka has been synonymous with style-conscious scooterists. Now thanks to WEISE®, scooter riders everywhere can get the authentic retro look whilst enjoying the benefits of modern materials, protection and practicality.

Part of the WEISE® Urban Collection, the Parka Jacket is designed to offer the best of all worlds: protection from the elements whilst on the bike and plenty of practicality and style off it.

Unlike the original 1960's versions, the WEISE® Parka Jacket is made from water-resistant material. A full-length zipped front closure, with button-down storm flap, elasticated wrist sections and a fully adjustable internal pull cord at the waist also help to keep out the elements, and allow a snug and comfortable fit.

Impact protection is also catered for, as the Parka has pockets at the shoulders and elbows designed for the insertion of CE-approved armour, which is available separately at £19.98 for a complete set.

Whilst off the scooter, the Parka's large faux fur-trimmed hood offers extra protection from the cold, and both the trim and hood can be quickly and easily removed for long rides.

Also useful both on and off the bike are the five external pockets - including one zipped pocket on the upper left arm - perfect for carrying all those daily essentials.

The WEISE® Parka jacket is available in ‘Stone' in sizes XS-XXL, at a recommended retail price of £79.99. For details on this and the complete WEISE® range of rider apparel and accessories, call 0117 9719200 or visit: www.weise-clothing.co.uk

Hand it to WEISE this winter

WEISE® has introduced two new winter glove options to its range of riding apparel, both designed to keep hands warm and dry without compromising fit and feel; ideal for urban motorcycle and scooter riders and commuters alike.

Featuring a three-layer HIPORA®, THINSULATE® Supreme and Tri-fleece inner lining, the Sportec is waterproof and breathable (preventing perspiration build-up), warm and comfortable. It is also thin enough to allow freedom of movement, ensuring there are no ‘tight spots' to restrict circulation.

A waterproof YKK® zip at the cuff and elasticated wrist section ensure a snug fit over or under the cuffs of winter riding jackets, helping to prevent cold air and rain seeping through the gap, and makes it quick and easy to get hands in and out too. With a full-grain leather palm and textile back the Sportec is perfectly suited to winter riding conditions.

For the ladies, the new Selene glove is also waterproof and breathable - thanks to the Sympatex® inner membrane - and features a Tri-fleece inner lining for warmth. Soft nappa leather with stretch Nyspan inserts between the fingers offers flexibility, feel and comfort all day long. Fully adjustable Velcro® retaining at the wrist and cuff allows quick and easy entry and exit from the glove, and ensures a close and comfortable fit.

The Sportec is available in black/gun, black/blue and black/red, in sizes S-3XL, and is priced at £49.99 including VAT. The Selene is available in black/gun and black/white, in ladies sizes XS-XL, retailing for £39.99 For further information on this and the full range of WEISE® motorcycle clothing and accessories, call 0117 9719200 or visit www.weise-clothing.co.uk

Explore the new textile jacket from WEISE

The perfect partner for adventurous riders everywhere, the new WEISE® Explorer textile jacket is designed to deal with the unpredictable conditions that any two-wheeled journey - long or short - can bring.

Keeping the worst of the weather on the outside is a lightweight waterproof and breathable ISOTEX® drop liner, which doesn't add excess bulk or restrict movement. In cold conditions, the Explorer's removable 120-gram thermal quilted liner helps keep the body's core insulated and the 360-degree trouser connection zip prevents the jacket 'riding-up' and allowing cold air in. WEISE® Water Release System (WRS) channels rain water away from the jacket, preventing the material from becoming water-logged.

Even the external pockets are waterproof - it's the attention to detail that makes a big difference.

When the temperature rises, the wearer can utilise the Explorer's zipped venting sections to the chest, arms and back, allowing cool air to circulate around the upper body.

Protection is also a priority for WEISE® and a removable 3MTM belt and reflective piping across the shoulders and back help visibility in low light conditions. If the worst should happen, the 500/600 denier textile outer shell and CE approved armour at the shoulders, elbows and back offer high abrasion resistance and maximum impact protection.

The WEISE® Explorer jacket is available in black/light grey in sizes S-3XL, at a recommended retail price of £179.99. For details on this and the complete WEISE® range of rider apparel and accessories, call 0117 9719200, or visit www.weise-clothing.co.uk

Weise Black Rain Gloves

New for this season, Weise® Black Rain gloves are designed to cope with the conditions experienced by British riders throughout the spring, summer and autumn months.

Thunderstorms are common during both spring and summer, while autumn is notoriously unsettled, so waterproofing is a crucial feature.

Combining the feel and features of a sports product with the weather protection of a winter glove, Weise® Black Rain gloves are manufactured from full grain leather with KEPROTEC® reinforced panels over impact zones. Carbon reinforcement on both knuckles and fingers adds to the Black Rain's track-inspired credentials.

Also included is a waterproof and breathable HIPORA® lining, making the Black Rain truly versatile without compromising fit, feel or control.

Secured by a Velcro adjustable wrist strap, the generous padded cuff is also Velcro adjustable, so it can be worn either inside or outside the jacket sleeve.

The Black Rain is produced in sizes Small - 4XL and retails for £54.99.

Classic protection from Weise

Thundersprint organiser and classic racer Frank Melling has good reason to be thankful he made a Weise choice when it comes to his racing leathers, following a serious crash while competing on his G50 Matchless at Donington.

"The breather tube split on the Matchless and put oil on the back tyre. The rest, as they say, is history. I walked away with minimal damage except a bruised nose and other assorted lumps. This was almost nothing from a 70mph off."

I was also wearing a Weise suit [in addition to a back-protector] and the combination meant that a potentially very nasty crash resulted only in damage to the bike. This is expensive but can be fixed whereas personal injuries are much more serious. The same accident pre-body armour would have been really nasty."

Frank wears a Weise Tornado leather suit.

Motor Cycle News review of Custom WP Gloves

"I like black gloves – plain black gloves with no bells and whistles. It’s how all motorcycling kit used to look and it goes with anything" writes Marc Abbott of Motor Cycle News.

"The waterproof membrane in these gloves has so far lived up to its billing, too, not allowing and moisture through in a recent deluge. And although there’s only one retaining strap at the wrist they do feel incredible secure".

Weise Maverick jacket - new orange flavour

New from WEISE® for 2010, the Maverick jacket is available not only in black, red and blue colour options but also an eye-catching orange version. Cool citrus colour schemes feature on machines in the Kawasaki, Harley-Davidson and KTM ranges and there is growing demand for brighter colours of bike clothing from owners of plain-coloured motorcycles, too.

As with the complete WEISE® range, substance has not been forsaken for style; all Maverick jackets have a tough 600 denier textile outer shell with CE approved armour at the shoulders, elbow and back, offering all-round impact protection, while 3MTM reflective panels on the chest and back can be easily spotted by other road users in poor visibility.

An ISOTEX® waterproof, windproof, breathable drop lining provides a barrier against the elements, while the WEISE® Water Release System (WRS) channels away excess water to ensure a dry and comfortable ride even in heavy downpours. The Maverick features a removable 100-gram thermal quilted inner and trouser connection zip to prevent the jacket 'riding up'.

Topping off the Maverick's practical specification are two large capacity external waterproof pockets, additional arm pockets (for carrying all the daily essentials) and a large pocket at the back (ideal for carrying unlined over-trousers).

The WEISE® Maverick Jacket is available at an RRP of £139.99 in sizes S-3XL in black/gun/blue, black/gun/red and black/gun/orange and up to size 5XL in black/gun/gun. Further details on the complete 2010 WEISE® range of rider apparel can be found at www.weise-clothing.co.uk or call 0117 971 9200.

Cool it this summer with Weise Air Spin

Temperatures this summer are predicted to reach record levels, possibly as high as 100° Fahrenheit, making it tough for motorcyclists to keep their cool wearing traditional leather or textile biking wear.

Weise® developed the Air Spin in response to requests from customers for a jacket that combined the protection of CE approved armour at the shoulders, elbow and back with maximum ventilation for summer riding. The outer shell has 500 denier construction on the arms and shoulders with generous air flow mesh at the front and rear of jacket, allowing the cooling breeze to penetrate. There is a detachable waterproof/breathable drop liner under the outer shell, so getting caught in a traditional summer thunderstorm will not present any problems.

Singing sensation Taio Cruz recently tried out a Weise Air Spin jacket while taking advantage of the Get On campaign’s free one-hour experience session, which is available to anyone over the age of 16. The pop star, who stormed the UK and US charts with his number 1 hit single Break Your Heart, took time out from filming the video for his latest single, (Dynamite, due to be released on August 23), to enjoy a training session with Brands Hatch Yamaha. Sessions can be booked at www.geton.co.uk which also provides a one-stop shop of information on how to get into biking.

Available in a choice of black/red, black/blue and black/gun in sizes XS - XXXL and priced at £99.99, the Weise® Air Spin jacket makes riding in the heat a breeze. For more information on Weise clothing visit www.weise-clothing.co.uk or call 0117 971 9200

MCN Kit review: Weise Victory gloves

They look sodding excellent and for the style and the price also offer a surprising level of protection. It’s amazing what a difference having knuckle armour makes to your perceived level of safety, and this seats very neatly on my hands, in the correct area, and with no rubbing.

WEISE Rainmeister 1-piece Oversuit

On average up to 10” of rain falls in Britain every summer, with localised thunderstorms increasing the prospect of getting caught in a downpour, so the Weise Rainmeister 1-piece oversuit will provide practical insurance against getting soaked. Strong, light, portable and completely waterproof, the Rainmeister is as easy to transport as it is to put on and take off, making the perfect riding companion for the English summer, or long distance Continental tours for the more adventurous.

Manufactured from lightweight nylon with taped and welded seams, the Rainmeister is designed to keep the water on the outside. Meanwhile on the inside there is a mesh lining in the body and arms, making it easy to pull the Rainmeister over leather jackets and jeans. A full length YKK® zipper runs from the thigh to the collar, reducing the amount of bending and stretching required to get into and out of this 1-piece oversuit and, with long zippers at the ankles, the Rainmeister slips smoothly over chunky motorcycle boots.

Adjustable popper-retained straps on the chest and arms allow the wearer to create a snug fit and the adjustable belt incorporates a stowaway bag into which the suit can be folded for carrying when not in use. Finishing touches include a soft lined collar and reflective strips on both arms and legs for safety in poor visibility.

Available in sizes XS – 5XL and priced at £79.99 including VAT, further details on the Rainmeister and the complete 2010 WEISE® range of rider apparel can be found at www.weise-clothing.co.uk or call 0117 971 9200.

The Weise is right for Grossglockner

This picture shows Tim Britton, editor of Old Bike Mart and Classic Dirt Bike magazine, negotiating the Grossglockner in what can best be described as challenging conditions. What makes this picture more remarkable is that it was taken at 5.30pm, Saturday 19 June 2010 (when most of the UK was experiencing a heatwave). At 3,798m it is not only the highest mountain in Austria, it also counts among the highest peaks in the Alps.

"When the going gets tough... The tough wear Weise!" says Tim.

Thundersprint 2010

The sun beat down, cheering crowds packed the two miles of Cavalcade route five deep and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Spitfire climbed into a brilliant blue sky to salute Thundersprint 2010. Race entries ranged from pre-War bikes all the way to the two week old Norton 961 and stars shone too - Chris Walker, Steve Parish and Danny Webb to name three. However, none of them sat next toour Phil on the Weise furry sofa (above)! Look out for Weise clothing at events around the UK.

"There was fabulous racing which gave great entertainment to the crowd and delighted traders. But, best of all, there was nothing but happy faces - and that’s the reason we run the Thundersprint" said organiser Frank Melling (pictured in his Weise leathers, in which he races classic bikes).

Thruxton – Metzeler Superstock 1000 Championship 16th – 18th April 2010

With the prospect of good weather all weekend Jon Railton and the team were looking forward to
some positive results from Thruxton. Unfortunately Roberto was unable to attend the meeting as he was stranded in Italy due to the restriction on flying as a result of the volcanic ash grounding all flights. Steve Hamilton and family took over the reigns as head chef and did a great job in feeding the team. Colin again provided satellite TV and helped with bike preparation along with Simon from Aprilia. Thanks also to Felipa who travelled all the way from London on here 675 Triumph to hold the umbrella for Jon on the start line.
Free practice went according to plan with Jon completing 19 laps of the demanding
Thruxton circuit. Due to the fast undulating nature of the circuit bike set up and physical
strength of the rider are particularly important. After the first practice many riders were
complaining of “arm pump” as riding a lap of Thruxton is more like riding a bucking bronco
than a motorcycle.
Jon started the main race in 33rd position. Making a good start initially Jon got pushed back to 39th having been out paced through the fast sections of the track at the back of the circuit. He knew that as the race progressed the In Moto Corse Aprilia would come into its own as the other riders tyres began to go off and begin spinning up. As expected as the race wore on Jon made progress and eventually finished 28th.
Jon is looking forward to testing the bike at Cadwell Park where further improvements to the bike and more track time will help improve results at future meetings.

Weise Matrix textile suit

WEISE® has added a tough new textile combination to its 2010 motorcycle clothing range. Designed to help commuter, touring and adventure riders face whatever the journey throws at them, the Matrix two-piece suit is made of tough stuff. Both the jacket and trousers feature an extra strong outer shell constructed from 600-Denier Polyester and Ballistic Nylon – a high performance fabric, resistant to abrasion, tears, scuffs and holes and designed to offer extra long life – and have CE approved protectors at the shoulders, elbows and back of the jacket and at the hips and knees of the trousers too.

Protection from the elements is also crucial for the daily and long distance rider, so the Matrix has ISOTEX® waterproof, windproof, breathable drop linings in both jacket and pants. In addition, both the jacket and trousers have quilted thermal linings plus six-inch connection zips to prevent the jacket 'riding up' and allowing cold air in. For use in warmer climates, the Matrix suit has zipped venting on the chest, back and thighs to allow the flow of cool air and the quilted liners can be removed and re-fitted easily to create the optimum combination for the weather conditions. Fully adjustable Velcro® closure throughout and popper adjustments on the upper and lower arms and above the knees, ensure a snug fit and a Neoprene finish at the jacket’s collar adds extra comfort on day-long rides.

Topping off this impressive specification is the total of 11 outer pockets: six on the jacket – two of which are waterproof – and five on the trousers, ideal for all those travel essentials. The WEISE® Matrix jacket comes in black/light grey at an SRP of just £159.99, available in sizes S-5XL, while the matching trousers retail for £129.99. For further details on the Matrix and the 2010 WEISE® range of rider apparel call 0117 9719200, or visit www.weise-clothing.co.uk
